Frequently Asked questions & studio aligned policies

Do I need experience to do Pilates?

No! Pilates is for every body.  Whether you're out of practice, or its your first class, movements can always be modified to meet you where you are. Instructors will guide you through proper form, breathing and alignment so you feel supported, confident and successful from day one.

What do I need for class?

Grip socks are mandatory and you'll want water to stay hydrated. If you forget either, no worries. Both will be available for purchase in studio. Everything else, equipment, props & vibes are provided. Just show up ready to move!

How does the waitlist work?

When you join the waitlist, you're added in order, giving you a spot in line. If a spot opens, the first person on the list is automatically added.  This process will continue as spots become available. (You can monitor your place on the Momence App.)

Automatic adds will happen up to 1 hour prior to the start of class. If a spot opens within 1 hour of the class, a text will be sent to everyone on the list and the first person to accept will get the spot.

Please note: if you can no longer attend it is your responsibility to remove youself from the waitlist. If you're added to the class and don't attend, the 24 hour cancellation and no-show policies will apply.

How early should I arrive?

We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes early, especially if you are new. This gives you time to find your spot, meet your instructor and get comfortable before class begins.

If you're running right on time that's okay too, however, to ensure safety and flow of class, no one will be permitted to enter more than 5 minutes after class starts.

What happens if I have to cancel?

We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. If you cancel more than 24 hours before class, you'll receive a credit back to your account.

Cancellations made within 24 hours of class are considered a late cancel and are not credited back. Members receive one waived late cancel per membership cycle, any additional late cancels will be deducted from the membership.

If you can no longer attend, we ask that you please cancel, even if it is late. No-shows are never credited back and will be charged an additional penalty which is 50% of the class fee.

Do you allow walk ins?

This is not recommended.  Classes are booked in advance and often have a waitlist. There is no guarantee a spot will be available if you do walk in.

To secure your spot on the reformer, we urge you to book ahead of time.

Can I do Pilates if I'm pregnant?

Yes, Pilates can be done during pregnancy but it is best to approach it thoughtfully.

We strongly recommend getting clearance from your doctor before attending class. Participation is determined on a case-by-case basis, as every pregnancy and fitness background is different.

If you were active and had an established workout routine prior to pregnancy, Pilates can be a great way to continue moving safely with proper modifications. If you've never exercised before starting a new fitness routing during pregnancy is not recommended.

If you are pregnant, please let us know before class so we can help to ensure appropriate modifications and a safe, supportive experience.

Which class do you recommend for beginners?

For beginners, we recommend starting with Reformer or Hybrid classes. Both offer a supportive, well rounded introduction to pilates with options to modify movements as you learn proper form, breath and technique.

Sculpt is better suited for more experienced clients, as it is a longer, higher intensity class with faster transitions and more advanced sequencing.

How often should I do Pilates to see results?

There is no exact number, but 2-3x per week is ideal for building strength, and noticable results. Clients who come once a week will still feel benefits, but attending more frequently tends to create more consistency and longer lasting progress.

Is pilates safe if I have an injury?

This is determined on a case-by-case basis. We would recommend getting cleared by your doctor first. Starting with a 1:1 session is encouraged so we can assess your capabilities and limitations, then determine whether a group class is appropriate for you.
